Integration monitor

Integration monitor is a daily Latvian press digest on ethnic minority and society integration issues. The Monitor reviews the biggest Latvian dailies: Diena, Latvijas Avize, Neatkariga (in Latvian language), Vesti Segodnya (in Russian language). In specific cases other information sources are used.   • Chancery of the President of Latvia draw attention on gaps in legal acts regarding requirements for state language proficiency

The Chancery of the President of Latvia sent a letter to the Saeima’s Education, Culture and Science Committee drawing attention on gaps in legal acts regarding requirements for state language proficiency for deputies of local councils. The Chancery concluded that the Rules of the Cabinet of Ministers effective from 3 January 2012 do not stipulate requirements for level of state language proficiency for deputies of local councils.
