Integration monitor
Integration monitor is a daily Latvian press digest on ethnic minority and society integration issues. The Monitor reviews the biggest Latvian dailies: Diena, Latvijas Avize, Neatkariga (in Latvian language), Vesti Segodnya (in Russian language). In specific cases other information sources are used. Latvian Centre for Human Rights is not responsible for information published by the media.

According to the preliminary election results, the Unity received the majority of votes 30,7% or 33 parliamentary seats. The Concord Centre received 25,7% (29), the Union of Greens and Farmers - 19,43% (22), the union For Better Latvia! 7,55% (8), and the union For Fatherland and Freedom/LNIM-All for Latvia! 7,54% (8). Other parties, including the pro-Russian party For Human Rights in United Latvia which was represented in the Saeima for last 12 years, received less than 5% of votes and did not pass the required 5% threshold to be elected in the Saeima.
Newspapers report that the election winner the Unity is planning to establish a coalition government with the Union of Greens and Farmers and allegedly with the nationalist union For Fatherland and Freedom/LNIM-All for Latvia! Telegraf reports that according to a representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, if the new governing coalition in Latvia will include nationalists from the FF/LNIM-All for Latvia! the visit of the President Valdis Zatlers to Moscow will be cancelled.
Diena reports about free-of-charge Latvian language courses for the unemployed persons. 8,000 persons have already attended the courses during this year and the same number is on the waiting list. The majority of persons study the Latvian language in order to receive state language proficiency certificate and to pass naturalisation exam. According to the State Employment Agency, Latvian language was granted priority status and additional funding this year.
