Integration monitor

Integration monitor is a daily Latvian press digest on ethnic minority and society integration issues. The Monitor reviews the biggest Latvian dailies: Diena, Latvijas Avize, Neatkariga (in Latvian language), Vesti Segodnya (in Russian language). In specific cases other information sources are used. According to the State Border Guard Service, 70 non-EU citizens were detained for illegal cross of Latvian border in the first half of 2009 which is for 61% more than in the first half of 2008. The majority of detained persons were from Congo, Togo, Cote d'Ivoire, Egypt, Syria, Moldova and Belarus.
