The Monitor reviews the biggest Latvian dailies: Diena, Latvijas Avize, Neatkariga (in Latvian language), Vesti Segodnya (in Russian language). In specific cases other information sources are used. The political union of Latvia’s First Party and Latvia’s Way has appealed to the governing coalition to permit granting double citizenship to children of Latvian citizens who were born abroad. The Minister of Justice Gaidis Berzins supported the proposal with a reservation that a person has to make a choice which country’s citizenship to keep upon reaching full age.
