Integration monitor

Integration monitor is a daily Latvian press digest on ethnic minority and society integration issues. The Monitor reviews the biggest Latvian dailies: Diena, Latvijas Avize, Neatkariga (in Latvian language), Vesti Segodnya (in Russian language). In specific cases other information sources are used. The Minister of Justice Gaidis Berzins has stated that there is no need to change the naturalisation procedure. According to Gaidis Berzins, the number of applicants for naturalisation has decreased because persons willing to become Latvian citizens have already naturalised. The Minister also believes that naturalisation policy is a part of internal policy and foreign intervention into it is not acceptable.

Chas prints an interview with the director of Belarussian elementary school of Riga Anna Ivane. According to Ms. Ivane, Belarussian school is not able to rent larger premises and to become a secondary school due to a lack of funding.
