A number of Latvian politicians believe Russia has re-directed its policy towards the Baltic countries by using Russian speakers as an instrument in order to have greater influence on public opinion in these countries. According to the Russia’s news agency Interfax, anonymous sources have noted that Russian-speakers residing in the Baltic countries should be more integrated in Latvian political and social affairs in order to be able to defend their interests better.
