Latvia’s member of the European Human Rights Court E.Levit refused to participate in 2 cases – a case of ex-banker Lavents and a case of I.Podkozlina (violation of election rights - she could not run for municipal elections because of the insufficient state language proficiency level) – where the defendant is the Republic of Latvia. Latvian Human Rights Committee chairman L.Raihman thinks that E.Levits refused to participate in the revision of these cases as E.Levit already knows that Latvia will lose and he does not want to ruin his reputation”.

Respublika asks opinions of some participants of III Baltic Forum regarding Russias attitude towards NATO enlargement, should the Baltic countries join the EU and others.
