Yesterday the Governmental Committee accepted the procedure on the deprivation, refusal and renewal of the citizenship of Latvia. If a person wants to give up the status of a non-citizen, it is free of charge, however, if a person wants to give up the status of a citizen, he/she has to pay 15 lats. The same amount should be paid for the renewal of the status of a citizen (but the cases when the citizenship was lost because of a legal mistake).
