The Ministry of Justice informed that the OSCE High Commissioner High Commissioner Max van der Stoel had not proposed any radical changes in the State Language Law regulations but asked to specify several articles giving a possibility for too wide interpretation. Press Secretary A.Vitenburgs did not give any concrete details about these proposals, just said that they had received remarks about some uncertainties and a request to specify places allowing too wide interpretation. The Commissioner had voiced a hope that those regulations would correspond to the international standards.

Russian speaking newspaper

Russian speaking newspaper Chas writes that European experts have made proposals to 6 out of 9 regulations on implementing the State Language Law and add that in the diplomatic language it meant that two thirds of the regulations have been found useless and should be revised.
