The Satversme Security Bureau stated in its letter to the MP Dz.Abikis that the draft resolution of the Union For Human Rights in United Latvia, where it called to start actions of non-violent disobedience in protest against the State Language Law norms, might be regarded as a voiced opinion of the party and therefore there was no grounds to start a criminal proceeding against it.

The newspaper Respublika interviewed one of the leaders of the Movement Equality S.Dimanis. Speaking about the call of the Union For Human Rights in United Latvia for non-violent disobedience, he said that so far the human rights activists many times had appealed to international organisations about discrimination of Russian speakers in Latvia. From one side they have received understanding, on the other side the West closed their eyes upon the new democracy in Latvia. In the campaign organised by the movement “For Equality” against the Regulations on the State Language Law some dishonest aspects has been discovered. The office of the Prime Minister A.Berzins has received 200 protest letters against the Regulations requesting the Government to follow international norms in the adaptation of the Regulations. The letters have been sent by different people, however, they were identical in the form and text. After receiving answers to their protest letters from the office of PM, the “authors” of these letters have denied that they have sent them.

The difference of opinions in the Government forming coalition on approving the administration of the Finance and Capital Market Commission may make the relations in the ruling coalition even more complicated. On Wednesday the TB/LNNK faction announced that they might not support E.Kratins and J.Brazovskis as “people too deeply involved in politics”. The coalition during its extraordinary Wednesday’s meeting did not reach any result and only on Thursday morning they will decide whether the Saeima would vote on approving those two persons or to postpone the vote, hoping to find a compromise.
