Integration monitor
Integration monitor is a daily Latvian press digest on ethnic minority and society integration issues. The Monitor reviews the biggest Latvian dailies: Diena, Latvijas Avize, Neatkariga (in Latvian language), Vesti Segodnya (in Russian language). In specific cases other information sources are used. The Saeimas Budget and Finance Committee supported proposal of the nationalists union All for Latvia!/For Fatherland and Freedom/LNIM to raise pecuniary penalties for insufficient usage of state language. Draft amendments to the Administrative Violations Code stipulate that fines will be raised from LVL 25-50 (EUR 20-70) up to LVL 25-250 (EUR 35-350) and for repeated violation from LVL 100-200 (EUR 140-280) up to LVL 250-500 (EUR 350-700). According to the draft amendments to the Law on the Society Integration Foundation (SIF) conceptually supported by the Saeima’s Human Rights and Public Affairs Committee, the SIF will be placed under the auspices of the Prime Minister.
