The Monitor reviews the biggest Latvian dailies: Diena, Latvijas Avize, Neatkariga (in Latvian language), Vesti Segodnya (in Russian language). In specific cases other information sources are used. Newspapers report that yesterday, the Saeima has approved a new government and Ivars Godmanis (Union of Latvias Way and Latvias First Party) as a Prime Minister. According to the governments declaration, one of the urgent assignments of the new government is elaboration and implementation of new migration and employment policy stipulating quotas for influx of temporary labour force in particular spheres from those countries with which Latvia will have an agreement on mutual migration.
