Integration monitor is a daily Latvian press digest on ethnic minority and society integration issues. The Monitor reviews the biggest Latvian dailies: Diena, Latvijas Avize, Neatkariga (in Latvian language), Vesti Segodnya (in Russian language). In specific cases other information sources are used. Latvian Centre for Human Rights is not responsible for information published by the media.

  • Presentation of a research Manifestation of Intolerance in Latvian Mass Media 2004/2005
On 24 March, the Secretariat of Minister for Special Assignment for Social Integration in the framework of the international week against racism presented a research conducted by the academicians Sergejs Kruks and Ilze Sulmane “Manifestation of Intolerance in Latvian Mass Media 2004/2005” The research shows that the issues of minorities and tolerance are not urgent on press agenda. Ilze Sulmane informed that more than a half of press articles showed a neutral attitude towards minorities. However, the manifestation of intolerance towards sexual and small ethnic minorities has been smaller than towards Latvians and Russians.
