In the campaign organised by the movement “For Equality” against the Regulations on the State Language Law some dishonest aspects has been discovered. The office of the Prime Minister A.Berzins has received 200 protest letters against the Regulations requesting the Government to follow international norms in the adaptation of the Regulations. The letters have been sent by different people, however, they were identical in the form and text. After receiving answers to their protest letters from the office of PM, the “authors” of these letters have denied that they have sent them.

The Union for Human Rights in the United Latvia has given faction’s invitation regarding the Regulations on the State Language Law. Comparatively to the Unions call to show disobedience, faction’s invitation to reach observance of the rights of minorities is expressed in much more peaceful way. Faction’s leader J.Jurkans has strongly criticised union’s invitation to the people to show civil disobedience.

Newspaper Chas declared that respective Latvian state institutions have turned down 2 million Euro from Europe for the integration of society, mostly organisation of Latvian language courses for Russian-speaking people free of charge, purposes. Latvia bases its decision saying that the mechanism for receiving and using the money is not clear and very well defined. Chas.
