Integration monitor

Integration monitor is a daily Latvian press digest on ethnic minority and society integration issues. The Monitor reviews the biggest Latvian dailies: Diena, Latvijas Avize, Neatkariga (in Latvian language), Vesti Segodnya (in Russian language). In specific cases other information sources are used. Latvian Centre for Human Rights is not responsible for information published by the media.

"DIENA" in its article on the CSCE activities in Latvia mentions that Head of the CSCE Mission Mr.Magee mentioned "improvements in the work of the CID". He said that a noticeable decrease of the number of not implemented court decrees had been observed. Head of the CID Mr.Zitars told "DIENA" that he was not going to sign Mr.Sulcs' application for resignation. According to Mr.Zitars there is a total of 2,000 court decrees regarding the CID decisions. The decrees have been either implemented or appealed. He also said that the CSCE Mission asked for explanations regarding 10 court decrees left not implemented due to contradictions in legislation.
