Integration monitor

Integration monitor is a daily Latvian press digest on ethnic minority and society integration issues. The Monitor reviews the biggest Latvian dailies: Diena, Latvijas Avize, Neatkariga (in Latvian language), Vesti Segodnya (in Russian language). In specific cases other information sources are used. Latvian Centre for Human Rights is not responsible for information published by the media.

  • State Language Centre punishment to a host of a TV5 programme Un-censored Andrejs Mamikins for disrespect towards Latvian language
The State Language Centre imposed an administrative punishment to a host of a TV5’ programme “Un-censored” Andrejs Mamikins for disrespect towards Latvian language. As reported, the Minister of Transportation Kaspars Gerhards was requested to speak Russian in Russian language programme “Un-censored”, however, he refused to do it and left the programme. In the meantime, Tthe National Council on Electronic Mass Media has, in its turn, notified the parent company of TV5% that the broadcasting licence of the channel might be annulled of broadcasting licence due to athe number of broadcasting violations (mostly regarding usage of state language.)
