A paper 'Legal Norms of Detention and Legal Rights of Immigration Detainees in Latvia'

A paper by the staff lawyer of the Latvian Centre for Human Rights and Ethnic Studies Ilvija Puce on immigration policy in Latvia. The particular attention is paid to the legal norms of the detention of illegal imigrants and the rights of detainees in Latvia.

The paper was presented during the First Thematic Workshop on "Reception and Detention Regimes" within the framework the Söderköping process, Kyiv, Ukraine, 7-8 February 2005, organised jointly by the European Commission (EC), the Swedish Migration Board (SMB), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), with the assistance of the Cross-Border Co-operation Process (CBCP) Secretariat.
