Latvian Foreign Minister Indulis Berzins met the EU Parliament Deputy Elisabeth Schroedter who visits Latvia with a goal to prepare the report on Latvia’s situation in domestic politics and integration process. During the meeting Berzins stressed the main Latvia’s foreign policy goals – joining the EU and NATO as well as society integration in Latvia itself.

Respublika writes about the plans of the Ukrainian government to extend the functions of the Ukrainian as the state language. The planned activities include introducing the Ukrainian language as mandatory for undergoing education in all state schools, testing of the civil servants as for their proficiency in Ukrainian, requiring at least 50% of the programs in non-state broadcasting companies to be in Ukrainian. The author of the article suggests that Ukrainians could be inspired by the example of the Baltic countries.
