Integration monitor

Integration monitor is a daily Latvian press digest on ethnic minority and society integration issues. The Monitor reviews the biggest Latvian dailies: Diena, Latvijas Avize, Neatkariga (in Latvian language), Vesti Segodnya (in Russian language). In specific cases other information sources are used.   • Yesterday, 123 persons received Latvian citizenship

Yesterday, the government has granted Latvian citizenship to 123 persons who went through the naturalisation procedure. 75% of new citizens are ethnic Russians, 14% are Ukrainians, 11% are Belorussians. 16% of new citizens have elementary education, 62% - secondary, 19% - higher education. In total, 140,992 persons were granted Latvian citizenship since the naturalisation procedure was launched in 1995. Neatkariga
