Integration monitor
Integration monitor is a daily Latvian press digest on ethnic minority and society integration issues. The Monitor reviews the biggest Latvian dailies: Diena, Latvijas Avize, Neatkariga (in Latvian language), Vesti Segodnya (in Russian language). In specific cases other information sources are used. Minister of Education and Science Juris Celmins (Minister of Education and Science Juris Celmins ("Saimnieks") in an interview for "PANORAMA LATVII" pointed to the importance of improving the quality of teaching of the Latvian language in Russian-language schools. Estonian Parliament adopted amendments to the Language Law. The amendments include new regulations for tests in the Estonian language and require a mandatory use of Estonian by employees involved in providing services, by individual entrepreneurs and by juridical entities. The requirement for the mandatory use of Estonian by businessmen was actively opposed by Russian-speaking Parliament members.
