Integration monitor

Integration monitor is a daily Latvian press digest on ethnic minority and society integration issues. The Monitor reviews the biggest Latvian dailies: Diena, Latvijas Avize, Neatkariga (in Latvian language), Vesti Segodnya (in Russian language). In specific cases other information sources are used. Latvian Centre for Human Rights is not responsible for information published by the media.

International NGO World without Racism distributed a statement warning about inclusion of the nationalists union All for Latvia!-For Fatherland and Freedom/LNIM in the Latvian government. The World without Racism believes that the party stands for mono-ethnic Latvian state and assimilation of ethnic minorities. Latvijas Avize prints an interview with the member of the nationalists union All for Latvia!- For Fatherland and Freedom/LNIM Janis Iesalnieks. Mr Iesalnieks believes that an initiative on collection of signatures for support of granting Russian language status of the official language in Latvia is anti-constitutional and the Central Election Committee should not have taken those for revision. Janis Iesalnieks also believes that it would be right to use notion colonists regarding residents who settled in Latvia during the USSR but notion occupant can be used only to military persons.
