Newspapers continue to report about further developments around the list of confidential private data of owners of cars decorated with Russias or Soviet symbols published on a nationalistic internet site. The State Data Inspection has launched its investigation on how and who received and published the data. The Road Traffic Safety Directorate informed that it already gathered and forwarded to law-enforcement bodies information about persons who recently requested personal information mentioned in the car owners list. The Security Police, in its turn, stated that those who published the data might be punished with pecuniary penalty as for administrative violation. According to unofficial information the internet site belongs to nationalistic party All for Latvia! who initiated an action Recognize the Fifth Column and posted pictures of cars decorated with Russias and Soviet symbols and their registration numbers on their site. Yesterday, the Riga Court of Latgale District closed a criminal case of radical nationalist Aivars Garda against a journalist of newspaper Chas Anatolijs Kamenevs because the case run out of its limitation period. Editor of radical nationalist newspaper DDD Aivars Garda sued the Chas journalist for untrue information published about him in Kamenevs article. In particular, the author called Garda a neo-Nazi. Limitation period ran out because Mr. Kamenevs asserted that he received notice from the court only in January 2010, while, the case was initiated in April 2009. Thus the six months period envisaged by legislation for initiation of a criminal case upon private complaint has ran out. Chas
