The Monitor reviews the biggest Latvian dailies: Diena, Latvijas Avize, Neatkariga (in Latvian language), Vesti Segodnya (in Russian language). In specific cases other information sources are used. Yesterday, the President of Latvia Vaira Vike-Freiberga and the Chairman of the Council of Jewish Parishes and Communities Arkadijs Suharenko have opened a memorial to the rescuer of Jews Zanis Lipke and all Latvians who helped Jews during the Holocaust in Latvia. The memorial was opened in Riga.
