The Security Police stated that several provocations or insurgences might be organized on 16 March the unofficial commemoration day of Latvian WWII legionaries. Therefore, the Mayor of Riga City Aivars Aksenoks announced that the Riga City Council will not authorise any commemorative processions and events on this day. The activist of the Headquarters for the Defence of Russian-Language Schools Yurijs Petropavlovskis has appealed the decision of the Administrative Regional Court in the Supreme Court Senate.
