  • Activists are planning to establish an NGO representing Latvian non-citizens

Journalist Jurijs Aleksejevs, lawyer Elizabete Krivcova and entrepreneur Valerijs Komarovs announced the registration of all interested persons who want to participate in the movement defending the rights of non-citizens - Congress of non-citizens. Slogan of the future organisation is “We did not elect this government, it does not represent us.” It is planned that the Congress will represent non-citizens at all levels. The establishment of such an organisation has been spearheaded by the decision of the Central Elections Committee refusing the announcement of the second stage of the initiation of the referendum on granting Latvian citizenship to non-citizens.
