The Monitor reviews the biggest Latvian dailies: Diena, Latvijas Avize, Neatkariga (in Latvian language), Vesti Segodnya (in Russian language). In specific cases other information sources are used. The President of Latvia Valdis Zatlers also criticizes Latvian doctor Juris Vidins for his statement that he would refuse to treat a patient who has a tattoo “USSR” or who would demand from a doctor to speak to him in Russian. The President believes that such statements are bringing shame on the doctor’s profession. The President also considers that the Latvian Doctors’ Association should evaluate Vidins’ statements.
