  • New Minister of Foreign Affairs Girts Valdis Kristovkis agrees with opinion of a radical nationalist about ethnic situation in Latvia
  • MP and former Waffen SS assistant officer Visvaldis Lacis on responsibility for crimes against humanity

Chas and Vesti Segodnya report about an exchange of emails between the new Minister of Foreign Affairs Girts Valdis Kristovkis (the Unity) and Latvian emigrant Aivars Slucis known for his radical nationalistic views published yesterday. In an email to Mr. Kristovskis, Mr Slucis gives his view about ethnic issues in Latvia and states that as a doctor I would not be able to treat Russians in Latvia equally with ethnic Latvians. In response, Mr Kristovkis states that he agrees with opinion and evaluation of Mr. Slucis.

Vesti Segodnyareports about the recent reactions of the leaders of the radical nationalists party All for Latvia! following their non-inclusion into the goverment coalition. Imants Paradnieks, the MP and co-chairman of the party, believes that being outside the coalition gives his party a free hand in pursuing their purposes. Visvaldis Lacis, the MP and former Waffen SS assistant officer, alleges that ethnic Russians and Russian-speakers, of course, are not responsible for what happened, yet they are responsible for Russias crimes against humanity and against ethnic Latvians and Latvian state.
