Integration monitor

Integration monitor is a daily Latvian press digest on ethnic minority and society integration issues. The Monitor reviews the biggest Latvian dailies: Diena, Latvijas Avize, Neatkariga (in Latvian language), Vesti Segodnya (in Russian language). In specific cases other information sources are used. Latvian Centre for Human Rights is not responsible for information published by the media.

Chas reports that the MEP from Latvia Tatjana Zdanoka has prepared recommendations to the EU member states on combating discrimination and implementation of anti-discrimination directives. According to the recommendations, in order to spot possible discrimination timely, there is a need to monitor and analyse participation of ethnic minorities, women, and disabled persons in various fields. Tatjana Zdanoka also points at discriminatory language and citizenship requirements in Latvia.
